I am starting to get older now where i can buy my own fishing gear and not have my parents buy it for me! I am looking into buying a rod & reel combo that will help me to reelin in some monster fish and I need some help from some of you experts out there! Smiley It all started this weekend after i hit the skuke for a day targeting some catfish. I got a bite so i set the hook and unexpectedly my bail arm snapped and i was pissed cuzz i had a beauty on my line!

I have a Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6600CB but can cast far with it so i may sell it to get a new reel that i can sail into the middle of the river!

PLZ HELP!

Reese, are you looking for a spinning setup for a baitcaster?  I have an 8' MH UglyCat catfish rod (casting) and a 7' H Ugly Stick Tiger Lite spinning rod that I'm looking to sell.  Both would be good for baitfishing for cats and stripers.

I like to use braid so a rod that can hold about 200 yards or more in braid that would be great! Also why we are talking about stippers we should have a stripper fishin outting soon!

You can do both stripper/striper fishing in atlantic city  Tongue  Anyway, were you looking for a casting or spinning setup?  If you want to cast a mile, spinning is easiest the way to go.

reese, check out catfishconnection.com.  They usually have some good prices on a few combos that would be good for baitfishing.

Never been used.  Still have plastic covering over cork.

I'm stepping up this year and getting the most expensive flathead reel ever!  Shimano Calcutta 400 TE!

Reese,
If you 're looking to cast to the middle of the river with 6600CB, you need 3+oz weight and bulky rod over 7'6".
Of course you need to educate your thumb before you swing it with full power.
