Launched the Mako yesterday.  Ran around the bay with no major issues.  Some minor electical stuff I'll fix this weekend.  She's now sittin pretty at the dock, getting ready for big rockfish.   popcorn

My dad and two nephews were with, and we managed to catch a bunch of jumbo yellow perch right in front of the marina.  I know its still technically winter, but it already feels like spring!

I fished for YP on Saturday morning with Chris, Bill and Dave G.  Fishing was generally slow, but we got 50 to 60 fish until the wind kicked up after lunch and we decided to bail.  Nothing too big, our biggest was 12.75", but we had quite a few 12's.  Thats it on the YP for me in 011.  Its gametime for rockfish.  Before heading home, I did some short recon for herring, didnt spot any but I am sure they down there.  Next weekend, I hope to bring the first large of the season onto the Mako.  I'll keep you all posted on the season results, as I usually do.  And hopefully, be giving some of you guys a call when I have openings.

you're a little late to start down there....I know of locals who have caught them 2 weeks ago......I know the water is cold, but on those warm up days, they were being caught....BTW, isnt catch and release illegal in the river this year??  I have heard some grumblings about that......

No doubt the fish are there.  I just havent tried yet.  Figured I'd first take advantage of the great YP run that is a stone throw from my marina.  Those perch will be spawning or gone by next weekend, just in time for the herring run to really pick up.  ;)

Catch and realease is legal from March 1 to the end of April just like every other year.  Cannot fish in the Susquehanna River north of twin rocks or the Bay south of SandyPt/TurkeyPt.

Cool pics Aki.  That looks like the day my Dad and I got that 58 pounder.  But where the hell did you get that picture???

I gotta show Brian Kelly that photo.  Each year, he anchors Big Red closer and closer to the Mako!  popcorn
