hey guys,
i'm probably going to be down in avalon a little this summer. anyone ever fish the surf there? it looks like its probably a lot deeper than the wildwood crest area, and google maps looks like there might be a jetty on the north end. not too sure about the back bays. i was thinking about trying the surf towards the end of this month for somethin, maybe stripers
;)

that jetty you are talking about really produces.  fish the sides for flounder and fish the tip with fideler crabs for keeper sea bass.  it gets hairy at low tide because the rocks at the base go out far so you are going to loose a few rigs.
Itching for some fishing.

No problem, be sure to get there early, it gets shoulder to shoulder almost every day,  i climb down the rocks at low tide and collect everyones rigs and shit haha, i find some pretty expensive lures alot, and you can never have tooo many lead weights  ;)

can catch fluke and blackfish off that jetty... keeper seabass? that would be a new one.. could jig fluke in the surf too, but the avalon surf is probably about the worst in jersey.. spot and kingfish might possibly be around, but it depends on the year, and if youre there in mid-late summer you can catch sharks and rays. You can fish off the bridge at townsends and catch blackfish, fluke and bass, youll learn very quick that its a slack tide spot, as it rips through there, but dropping live bait down could get you a nice fish, lookin at 40+ FOW in there. Ive fished avalon area several dozen times, but almost exclusively the backbays... some of the best backbay flukin is behind avalon, my 3 biggest fluke have all been on avalons backside 27" 28" 28", fish at night if you want bass. stone harbor and NWW are also great places to fish the back for bass and fluke. bluefish could be anywhere at any time too
they down there
