was out eel fishing last night and hooked this stupid looking catfish on a nightcrawler.  One of the oddest cats I've ever had the luxury to gut.


gonna go try again tonight, might set out a rod specifically for em.

Stupid question. Why did you keep it if you weren't sure what kind of catfish it was?

If it is indeed a different species not native to PA i'm sure the fish commission wouldn't mind it dead. It does resemble a Wels and its too big to be any of the madtom mini-bullheads hmmmm, released pet?

I remember you talking before about catching Wels in Poland so I presume you wouldn't have ID issues with one regardless of where you caught it. I have only seen pictures.

Did you catch it near a power plant or some sort of discharge

Well, you can't get one by the Philadelphia anglers, sorry to make some of you cat hunters drool believing that wels have invaded the Schulkyl, but alas, 4000 miles of ocean still seperate those that use 15 inch bass for bait and those that use 15 pound carp for bait.

Yeah, I'm sitting here overseas enjoying a little fishing vacation.  Got 3 of those puny wels over 2 nights, no eels, but then again, they are wels, sorta scary fishing with 10 pound line in these rivers. 

No perch, no zander, a few bream, one asp, and the Northern Pike have been on fire.  AS annoying as the pickeral in Tobyhanna, but then again, they are northern pike, gotta give em due justice.

Mike, your missing out buddy, caught 21 Pike over the last week, thats more pike than I caught pickeral all winter thru the ice.  What a crying shame.  If only pennsylvania invested as much money as piss poor Poland to stock 3 million pike in the local rivers, I'm sure we'd have some fun - oh and they stock trout and salmon over here too - 150,000 in the river ina alone, differemce is they stock em as 1 inch fry and let them grow wild - saves them enough money to stock carp and pike.  Something Pennsy might want to try.

As far as PA is concerned theres no reason to stock anything but trout as thats all that makes them money  :'( :'( bs bs bs


and I have a few new spots on the Susky for pike, you can use the ones you have as bait    now it just needs to go 3 weeks without raining and it might be fishable  bs bs bs

Yeah, I made the stupid mistake of heading to the lower Susky for shad this morning. Didn't even wet a line...it was absolutely insane flood conditions.  bs
